2 Year Anniversary Video

2 year anniversary from Vaughn de Heart on Vimeo.

Today is the 2 year anniversary of my brand.  I wanted to do something to celebrate so I decided to make a video.  This story is kind of the precursor to meeting Nick and having that huge experience that you can read about on my story page.  I met Nick 2 years ago to the day.  This event happened to me about  8 months before the Nick incident (go here to read about it) so even before I met him I was kind of waiting, expecting something to happen to lead me in a direction to hopefully do something different.  There are a lot of things shown in the video, but there are a few clips that come up at certain moments when I talk about something specific things because they have special significance.

The first is when I show the "Nous gardons le cardon" shirt right when I say that his words sent me into a rage is because that phrase roughly translated from french means "We will not loose heart."  Because for whatever reason his words didn't deter me from what I was determined to do.

When I talk about the fashion industry being competitive and that people's perception could be wrong I show the "Les gens courageux"shirt which is french for "The fearless ones" because I believe that moving forward when people or perception are discouraging you is a fearless attribute.

And lastly when I talk about people who have supported me I show a picture of my brother and I from his wedding because my brother is my biggest supporter.  Ever shirt design and pretty much ever move of the brand I run by him first.  It's been like this from even before I started the brand with other things that I've attempted.

And a big thank you to the band Lemolo for letting me use their song "Open Air" you can find more info about them here.

A film about Dustin Kott a Californian motorcycle builder who makes custom British style Cafe racers out of old japanese bikes.  Watching a designer in his element, I swear there's nothing like it.

Happy Mother's Day

When Zelda Ocarina of Time came out my mother helped me scour every store in southern Michigan till we finally found a copy.  Calling stores, getting up early to visit them and see if they had a copy.  I'm not sure why she did it.  She didn't have to, and she never had anything good to say about video games, but she helped me get that one, and at the time it meant the world to me.  One of the many things I say to brag about my Mom.  That is why today is dedicated to you Mom.

Vaughn de Heart Spring Collection 2011 Releasing This Sunday May 8 at 10am

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Posted by rpalmercoleman Labels: All black everything, Light Blue V neck, limited edition, Navy Blue, Nous gardons le coeur, only 25 made, Spring 2011, Spring Collection, teal, Vaughn de Heart, veni vidi vici, White Tank at 6:43 PM 0 comments

This isn't another teaser, here is the full collection.  I give to you Vaughn de Heart Spring collection 2011.  The collection will release online at www.vaughndeheart.com this Sunday at 10am.  4 of the 5 shirts are limited to only 25 pieces.  Get them before they are gone.

An Old English V feaured on the front.  Only 25 made.

The tag says, "Only 25 made".  "Lords van Legende" is dutch for "Lords of Legend".

Only 25 made

The tag reads "Orion, Only 25 made".  I called this design Orion because I got the inspiration for the three stars on the shoulder from the three stars that comprise Orion's belt in the Orion Constellation.  And because the story of Orion "The Great Hunter" is very intriguing.  "When Orion rises, ‘night feigns the brightness of day and folds its dusky wings" -Manilius

"Nous gardons le coeur" is french and is roughly translated to "We will not lose heart."

Only 25 Made

The tag says "Hearts cannot be lead, Only 25 made."  Hearts cannot be lead is a reference to a rule in the card game of Hearts.  You cannot lead with hearts unless that is all you have.

Only 25 Made

Maybe one of the most complex meanings of a Vaughn de Heart shirt to date.  The tag reads Julius Caesar 47 BC, Only 25 made."  In 47 BC Julius Caesar conquered Pharnaces at Zela and took back Rome.    Which is why the shirt says, "Roma".  The date that is shown inside of the black circle is the date that he beat Pharnaces and the day that he coined the phrase "Veni Vidi Vici" Which is shown at the bottom of the shirt and is latin for, "I came I saw I conquered."  I have listed the date in the form of the Julian calendar which is a calendar that Julius Caesar himself instituted.

Not sure why I like this, but I do.  Honestly I hesitated a bit before I posted it, but it's good.  Can't put my finger on it but it's got to be the music and the cinematography.  I love those tilted sweeping shots with the wide angle lens.  Then that music.....mmmmm.  It's good.
